Pilgrimage with Marilis Pineiro

September 20-28, 2026
$4,200 (plus air)
Walsingham add-on (+$700)
This pilgrimage moves through some of the most meaningful landscapes in England’s Catholic story – from St. John Henry Newman’s Oxford and the sacred springs of Bath to the Marian heart of Glastonbury and the holy village of Walsingham, England’s Nazareth.
These are places where the faith endured quietly and beautifully, often in hidden chapels and secret rooms, and where pilgrims have sought healing and renewal for centuries.
September is one of the most beautiful months to visit England. The days are warm and golden, summer crowds have faded, and the first touches of autumn soften the countryside. It’s a perfect season for walking, prayer, and discovery.
We will spend 3 nights in Oxford, 3 nights in Bath, 2 nights in the Cotswolds, and 2 nights in Walsingham.
Group size: Limited to 25 pilgrims.
Itinerary
We begin with three nights in Oxford, visiting the colleges, chapels, and cobblestone lanes that shaped St. John Henry Newman, C.S. Lewis, and J.R.R. Tolkien. We’ll spend time in Littlemore where Newman entered the Church, explore The Kilns, and enjoy gentle walking tour through the medieval university quarter. We’ll also spend a day at Stonor Park, one of England’s most important recusant estates, with its private chapel and priest hole hidden within the house.
Then we travel west to Bath for three nights, a beautiful Georgian city built around ancient Roman healing waters. From here we’ll visit the Roman Baths, Bath Abbey, and enjoy an afternoon tea. One of our days includes a full pilgrimage to Glastonbury, home of England’s oldest Marian shrine and the atmospheric ruins of Glastonbury Abbey, long associated with Joseph of Arimathea and early Christian Britain.
Next we spend two restful nights in the Cotswolds, surrounded by rolling hills, stone cottages, and quiet walking paths. From here we’ll explore a historic castle and wander beautiful scenic villages and walking trails.
If you choose to add-on the additional two nights in Walsingham, we travel northeast, stopping in Ely to visit Ely Cathedral and honor St. Etheldreda, one of England’s most beloved medieval saints. We’ll celebrate Mass at St. Etheldreda’s Catholic Church before continuing on to Walsingham, where we spend our final two nights in England’s Nazareth. Here we’ll visit the Slipper Chapel, walk the ancient pilgrim path to the Holy House, and explore the village that has drawn pilgrims for nearly a thousand years.
And as always, we have a few special surprises planned.
Daily Mass will be celebrated throughout the pilgrimage, accompanied by a priest from the Divine Mercy Apostolate in the UK.
Along the way, we’ll experience:
- Glastonbury Abbey
- The Holy Thorn Tree
- Oxford Oratory (St. John Henry Newman)
- Oxford University Chapels
- Littlemore – where Newman became Catholic
- Tolkien and Lewis sites across Oxford
- Manor homes with priest holes
- The Roman Baths
- Bath Abbey
- Wells Cathedral
- Shrine of St Etheldreda
- Shrine of Walsingham

Is this pilgrimage for you?
You should be in good physical shape.
We’ll walk a fair bit each day – sometimes on cobblestones, sometimes on uneven abbey grounds, sometimes on country paths that might be wet. Expect gentle hills, stairs in old houses with no lifts, and standing during tours. It’s not strenuous, but you should feel steady on your feet and comfortable walking 3–4 miles throughout the day.
You must carry your own luggage.
Some of our hotels are historic properties and may not have elevators. We also do not have porters. A light packing list will be provided.
You need to be flexible.
England is beautiful, but it comes with surprises – quick weather changes, early abbey closures, and country lanes that get muddy after a rain. If you can roll with these things and enjoy the unexpected moments that make pilgrimages special, you’ll be fine. If you need everything perfectly predictable, this may not be the right fit.
Consider all of this before signing up.
If you enjoy exploring by foot, don’t mind English weather, and like a bit of adventure with your prayer and history, you’ll fit right in.
